Gary Bennett

Gary Michael Bennett (born 20 September 1963 in Kirkby) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. After spells with Wigan Athletic, Chester City and Southend United, he became a prolific goalscorer at Wrexham, scoring 114 goals in 176 competitive appearances across two spells.

Tranmere Rovers signed Bennett from Wrexham for £300,000 in July 1995. During the 1995–96 season he made 33 appearances in all competitions for Rovers, including 29 in the league, and scored nine goals. He left Prenton Park for Preston North End in March 1996.

Bennett later returned to Wrexham before finishing his playing career with Chester City in 1999.
